Well known in her community, Chantelle plays ukulele and percussion, sings and is a dedicated community volunteer.
She started her music journey later in life when she joined the Cranbourne Lions Concert Band in 2008 and started learning percussion. She also joined the City of Greater Dandenong Band in 2010 and has competed with them at several national, state and other brass band contests.
As a percussionist, she has filled in for many ensembles including concert bands, brass bands, orchestras and musical theatre pit bands. She plays drum kit, mallet percussion (xylophone, glockenspiel, etc.), timpani and all auxiliary percussion.
In 2016 she discovered the ukulele, which would forever change her musical journey. This new musical obsession enabled her to sing and accompany herself, and once she started performing at open mics, it was clear that this is what she should be doing. She has since performed as a solo ukulele vocalist at music and ukulele festivals all over Australia. She still maintains a strong connection to her community and also performs at many local events. She also helped form the Balla Balla Ukes, a community ukulele group based in Cranbourne, Victoria.
She generally performs a mixture of interesting original songs and fun singalong covers.
With a passion for jazz, Chantelle has also started singing with jazz ensembles, with a strong emphasis on singing beloved jazz standards.
Chantelle is also a very dedicated community volunteer and often helps with event management, stage management, photography and consulting.
