Chantelle is the kind of performer that can make a loud room go suddenly quiet, eager to hear what comes next. Her rich vocals draw the audience in and get their attention while she further delights them with her beautiful ukulele technique. She specialises in American Songbook jazz standards, which she plays with technical skill and a deep love of the genre. As a storyteller, her originals vary from fun and quirky to thought-provoking and raw.
She is a popular and well-respected soloist and workshop presenter. She has performed at most of the major ukulele festivals and events throughout Australia, and has also performed at other jazz festivals and local community events.
She is usually accompanied by Ricardo Vaveliuk on bass, and other jazz improvisation specialists such as Bradley Potenzi (alto sax/clarinet) or Ally Collingwood (baritone/tenor sax). They also sometimes include other instrumentation such as drums or guitar. The combination of these talented musicians is fun, interesting and very polished.
Chantelle and her two cats are based in Cranbourne in the southeast suburbs of Melbourne. She loves performing, teaching, and discovering new places, especially if she can do so with her uke in her hands.
