    August 2019 Update

Ukulele & Vocals This month I performed at the wonderful Open Studios event hosted by the City of Casey. The event is a bus tour of local artist galleries and features many talented visual artists in our municipality. I was asked to perform both at one of the galleries – “Gate 6” at Akoonah Park for the SECAN Artists Network, as well as the event closing party for council at the Bunjil Place Studio. The local artists community are very supportive of me and often book me for arts functions. It’s so great to attend these events as background music and have them all singing along as they enjoy the…

    July 2019 Update

Ukulele & Vocals I performed at the SECAN Artists Network “Strip Art” event, featuring art in a 3:1 “strip” ratio. That’s right – it’s not what you thought it meant! This was a great event with many of the artists singing along to my background music as they checked out the artwork in the gallery. I’ve also been trying out some new songs this month at some open mics, and I particularly like this random cheeky photo where I seem to be mid-joke. That’s pretty much me! Jazz A big focus this month, and in the next few months to come, has been working on this jazz gig for September.…

    June 2019 Update

Ukulele & Vocals The focus this month has really been on song writing. I’m getting closer to finalising a new comedy song, and I’ve been performing it as many times as I can to really work through what still needs to be updated. The audiences have enjoyed this one and I look forward to really hamming this one up in performance once it is settled. Earlier in the month I entered the song writing contest at the Peninsula Folk Club and received some really great feedback and advice. I can laugh about it now, but just before I was ready to walk on stage, I broke a string on my…

    May 2019 Update

Ukulele & Vocals The major ukulele performance this month was at the Hills Ukulele Festival. This is a wonderful ukulele festival in Emerald, Victoria and is usually run around mid-May. I had just lost my voice a few days earlier, but somehow managed to sing for our Balla Balla Ukes jazz ensemble set as well as my own solo set. Even though I was quite husky, it sounded great! The Balla Balla Ukes main group also performed at the festival and did a great job. The Balla Balla Ukes also did a gig at the Casey Lifestyle Village earlier in the month. I also tried busking at the Akoonah Park…

    April 2019 Update

This has been such a huge month! Ukulele & Vocals The main performance event for me this month was the Sunshine Coast Ukulele Festival, which took place in Kenilworth, Queensland. I had a fantastic time at this festival. I got to meet really lovely people, jam with other musicians, perform on the Festival Village Stage, saw amazing acts and received really helpful feedback and tips on songwriting. Earlier in the month I also had my first ever spot act at Peninsula Folk Club, and received really lovely feedback from the audience and an encouragement to keep producing original songs. While I was in Queensland, I also filmed a new video…
